So, I'm on bedrest at the moment, until #2 decides to arrive, at the most 5 more weeks. I won't be allowed to go past my due date, since I have gestational diabetes. Spent yesterday doing some online Christmas shopping. Amazon.com is definitely the best site. They have everything & most items are free shipping over $25. Hard part is figuring out what to buy. Amazon.com has now put out a Holiday Toy List. When my son was younger, I never had a problem figuring out what to get him, but now that he's older there are a lot more choices and there aren't many top toy lists out there for 3 year olds like there are with babies & toddlers. You can search the list and view videos of over 450 toys. Featured products are from leading vendors like Hasbro, Disney, Nintendo, Leapfrog, LEGO, Fisher-Price, Mattel and Razor.
Not only that, but Amazon.com also has a Gift Central which shows category editors' recommendations on great gifts for the holiday season.

Art Easel
My son just turned 3. I read that 3 year olds are very creative. My son all of a sudden seems to be. He just recently took an interest in drawing and writing. Unfortunately, he likes drawing on the floor, coffee table, window sill, etc. I have a nice section on the wall of his decorative artwork from when he was about 2.
So for his birthday I bought him an art easel
. Very nice. I got a really good deal on it, $35.00, free shipping. It's from Melissa & Doug, is wooden, has a white board on one side and a chalk board on the other side. The height is adjustable, so it will grow with him. Each side has a tray for holding supplies. My only complaint is it does not come with art supplies. I just started him out with a set of white board markers, white board eraser, a box of sidewalk chalk, and a chalkboard eraser. It does come with clips to hold paper, but they break easily. I'm going to hold off on paints for a while. He's had the easel a week and plays with it every day. The Melissa & Doug art easel was definitely a good purchase.

Children's cough and cold medicine pulled from shelves
Heard this on the news last night and received an email about it today. Apparently with the arrival of cold and flu season, parents are overdosing their infants on Tylenol, which has led to various infant cold medications being pulled from store shelves. Here's the email I received:
The cough and cold season is here, and we have important information to share about infants' and children's cough and cold medicines. These medicines are generally recognized as safe and effective when used as directed. Most parents use these cough and cold medicines appropriately.
However, we have become aware of rare instances of misuse leading to accidental overdose, especially in children under the age of two. Therefore, we are voluntarily withdrawing the following concentrated cough and cold medicines from the market:
Concentrated Tylenol® Infants' Drops Plus Cold
Concentrated Tylenol® Infants' Drops Plus Cold & Cough
PediaCare® Infant Dropper Decongestant
PediaCare® Infant Dropper Long-Acting Cough
PediaCare® Infant Drops Decongestant (containing pseudoephedrine)
PediaCare® Infant Dropper Decongestant & Cough
PediaCare® Infant Drops Decongestant & Cough (containing pseudoephedrine)
If you have these products in your household, please discontinue use in children under the age of two. These actions do not apply to cough and cold medicines labeled for children aged two and above.
Additionally, these actions do not apply to Infants' and Children's Tylenol® and Motrin® pain relievers and fever reducers. When used as directed, these products are safe and effective.
As always, it is important to medicate carefully. Always use the exact dosage device that comes with the medicine. Use the medicine only as directed. And keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
